The Texas El Paso Miners play host to the Florida Atlantic Owls at Sun Bowl Stadium.
The Florida Atlantic Owls had high expectations entering the season but with just a single win their chances of reaching a Bowl are slim to none. The Owls fell to 1-5 following a 33-17 loss to visiting Marshall as a three point underdog but it wasn’t close with the Thundering Herd holding a 500-334 edge in yardage with a 95 yard pick six accounting for seven points. Quarterback Jeff Driskel struggled to throw with 203 yards and an interception on 14-31 with Tyler Cameron leading Florida Atlantic with six receptions for 111 yards. FAU needed more from their rushing attack but Trey Rodriguez with his 76 yards and a touchdown were not enough.

The Miners fell to 2-4 after a 52-12 defeat at Florida International in week six. The Golden Panthers amassed 518 yards and had a pick six so UTEP’s 272 yards were well short. Quarterback Kavika Johnson completed 10-20 for 107 yards and a touchdown with top receiver Cole Freytag catching two throws for 81 yards and a score. ThetTexas El Paso rushing attack received 52 yards on ten touches from Warren Redix and 43 yards from LaQuintus Dowell but the offense needed to double the output to stay competitive.

The under is 4-0 in Miners last 4 home games and is 4-0 in Miners last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while the Miners are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. With some key players out I’m thinking of laying the chalk with Florida Atlantic…
