The Texas Tech Red Raiders bring their offense on the road to oppose the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are known for their ability to find the end zone which is the reason for their 5-2 record. The Red Raiders have won back to back contests following a tougher then expected 30-20 victory at Kansas as a 33 point favorite. TT outgained the Jayhawks 576-475 and forced three turnovers including a pick six. The Red Raiders lived on the passing of quarterback Patrick Mahomes II who connected on 29-50 for 354 yards with a touchdown and interception with Zach Austin and Jakeem Grant combining for 151 yards on 13 receptions. The Oklahoma Sooners bounced back rom their poorest performance of the season to play their best in a 55-0 rout of rival Kansas State in week seven. The Sooners jumped to a 35-0 lead after two quarters on their way to a 568-110 yardage edge while intercepting three passes including a pick six. OU was able to do anything with quarterback Baker Mayfield completing 20-27 for 282 yards and five touchdowns with Dede Westbrook and Sterling Shepard combining for nine receptions for 168 yards and three scores. Joe Mixon was Oklahoma’s best running option with 73 yards on 15 carries with a trip to the end zone while Samaje Perine and Daniel Brooks combined for 97 yards.
The over is 5-0 in Red Raiders last 5 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and is 5-0 in Red Raiders last 5 vs. a team with a winning record while the Red Raiders are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Sooners are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and the over is 7-1 in Sooners last 8 games in October while the Sooners are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win. For me the spread is too high for an offense that can score. I favor the over also but the rain from the hurricane is a worry…
