Paulson Stadium and the Georgia Southern Eagles play host to the Texas State Bobcats in week nine.
The Texas State Bobcats ended a three game skid with a lopsided 36-18 victory versus visiting South Alabama. A 19-0 second quarter run put this in the win column. USA actually won the battle of yards 468-424 but their drives were stopped way to often. The Bobcats were not very effective through the air with quarterback Tyler Jones going 13-23 for 105 yards and an interception with CJ Best catching five balls for 32 yards. Fortunately the Texas State rushing game was the deciding factor because of a 30 carry, 248 yard performance from Robert Lowe who also scored three touchdowns.

If the Georgia Southern Eagles expect to have a shot at the Sun Belt crown they can’t afford another conference defeat after a 31-13 loss to Appalachian State. The scoreboard wasn’t completely out of hand but the Mountaineers were dominant with a 433-252 yardage edge and two turnovers. The Eagles passing was so, so with quarterback Kevin Ellison completing 5-11 for 64 yards an a pick with Favian Upshaw going 0-2 with another interception while Myles Campbell caught two balls for 46 yards. The normally potent Eagles rushing attack featured 78 yards from Matt Breida while LA Ramsby and Ellison combining for 104 yards and a touchdown each.
The over is 3-0-1 in Bobcats last 4 games following a S.U. loss and is 4-0-1 in Bobcats last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points while going 4-0-1 in Bobcats last 5 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 games on grass and the Eagles are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games on grass and are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games. I don’t think we see the Eagles play poorly two weeks in a row…
