The Florida Atlantic Owls lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 1-6 (1-3 C-USA East) on the season after being defeated 27-17 by the UTEP Miners this past Saturday. Florida Atlantic was outgained by UTEP by a 410-365 margin and committed 3 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Owls was RB Trey Rodriguez who had 114 yards and a TD on 7 receptions. On the season, Florida Atlantic is averaging just 22.3 ppg on 386.3 yards per game (232.7 passing, 153.6 rushing). Leading the way for the Owls offense has been the RB duo of Greg Howell (92 carries, 434 yards, 3 TD) and Trey Rodriguez (28 carries, 219 yards, 3 TD). Leading the way for the Florida Atlantic defense has been DL Trevon Coley (41 tackles, 4.5 sacks) and DB Cre’von Lebalnc (31 tackles, 3 INT).
The Golden Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win. The Owls are 2-5 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games.
Florida International has yet to win a game on the road this season however, I just can’t see the Florida Atlantic defense being able to contain QB Alex McGough and the Golden Panthers offensive. Alex McGough and Alex Gardner should have big days against the Owls and I think the Golden Panthers pull away in the 2nd half and easily cover this spread. Take Florida International to cover in this one.
