The San Jose Spartans look for a nice home victory to get a game above a .500 record. Kenny Potter is completing 67.7 percent of his passes for 914 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. Potter has four touchdown passes in his last three games. Tyler Winston and Billy Freeman have combined for 690 receiving yards and six touchdowns while Hansell Wilson has 22 receptions. The San Jose Spartans ground game is averaging 184.8 yards per contest, and Tyler Ervin leads the way with 1,159 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, SJSU is allowing 27.6 points and 347.5 yards per game. Christian Tago leads the Spartans with 80 tackles, Jimmy Pruitt has three interceptions and Eugene Taylor has two sacks. Jimmy Pruitt and Thomas Tucker are questionable.
The Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Spartans are 1-7 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
San Jose State has played its best ball this season on its home field, and the Spartans have a solid running game to shorten the matchup. So, while BYU is more talented and should win outright, I like SJSU to keep this game close.
