The Florida Atlantic Owls will travel to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to take on the 11th ranked Florida Gators in College Football action this Saturday afternoon.

The Florida Atlantic Owls dropped to 2-8 (2-5 C-USA East) on the season after losing a tight 24-17 battle against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this past Saturday afternoon. Florida Atlantic had trouble generating much offense as they rushed for just 75 yards and was outgained by Middle Tennessee by a 479-297 margin. Leading the way for the Owls was QB Jaquez Johnson who completed 12 of 25 passes for 214 yards, 2 TD and a INT. On the season, Florida Atlantic is averaging 22.3 ppg on 375.7 yards per game (220.4 passing, 155.3 rushing). The Owls offensive has been led by QB Jaquez Johnson who is averaging 150.7 passing yds/game while throwing for 8 TD and 4 INT. Johnson does have the ability to make something with his legs and is averaging about 25.0 yds per game on the ground and has 1 rushing TD on the season. The Florida Atlantic ground game is led by Greg Howell (53.20 yds/game, 3 TD) and Trey Rodriguez (69.83 yds/game, 5 TD). USA TODAY Sports

The 11th ranked Florida Gators won their third straight game and improved to 9-1 (7-1 SEC East) on the season after defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 24-14 this past Saturday. Florida let South Carolina make it a game in the 4th quarter but a late Kelvin Taylor TD run with about 2 minutes left the play sealed the win for the Gators. Florida outgained South Carolina by a 404-201 margin and forced the Gamecocks into committing two turnovers. Leading the way for Florida was RB Kelvin Taylor who has 105 yards and a TD on 20 carries. On the season, Florida is averaging 28.1 ppg on 370.9 yards per game (232.3 passing, 138.6 rushing). The Gators offense has been led by Kelvin Taylor who has 12 TD’s on the season and is averaging 73.60 yds/game. After losing QB Will Grier for the season due to a suspension, Treon Harris has taken control of the QB position for the Gators and has 6 TD and 3 INT on the season while averaging 138.6 passing yds/game. The Gators WR’s are led by Demarcus Robinson (50.5 yds/game, 2 TD), Antonio Callaway (48.9 yds/game, 3 TD), and Brandon Powell (34.4 yds/game, 3 TD). Defensively, Florida is holding their opponents to an average of 14.5 ppg on just 280.0 yards per game (174.9 passing, 105.1 rushing). Florida has a turnover margin of plus 6 and is led defensively by DB Vernon Hargreaves III (24 tackles, 4 INT) and Jonathan Bullard (49 tackles, 5.5 sacks).

The Owls are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. SEC. Florida is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. C-USA opponents and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Florida has one of the best defenses in the country which will make it hard for Florida Atlantic to score, however, Florida’s offense has only put up more than 35 points in a game twice this season. I basically feel that Florida Atlantic's defense is going to hold Florida to about 30-35 points in this one which means I just need one TD to cover. That might be a lot to ask for the Owls in this one but I think they can do it so I’m taking Florida Atlantic and the points.
