The Kentucky Wildcats and the Charlotte 49ers face off on Saturday in Lexington in a week 12 college football matchup.

The Kentucky Wildcats are 4-6 this season and need to win out to make it to a bowl game. The Kentucky offense is averaging 21.4 points and 362.9 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 19 times. UK QB Patrick Towles has completed 55.9 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions and he has rushed for five touchdowns. Stanley Williams leads Kentucky in rushing with 678 yards and three touchdowns and Dorian Baker is the top receiver with 52 receptions and three touchdowns. The Wildcats defense is allowing 28.1 points and 400.8 yards per game with six interceptions, eight fumble recoveries, and 13 sacks. Josh Forrest leads the Kentucky defense with 77 tackles, Marcus McWilson has 65 tackles, and Cory Johnson has 59 tackles. Even if they make a bowl this season has been a failure for Kentucky as they haven’t even come close to their expectations.

USA TODAY Sports

The Charlotte 49ers are 2-8 this season as they wind down their first season in FCS. The Charlotte offense is averaging 19.3 points and 352.8 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 32 times. Last week for the 49ers it was Matt Johnson and Brooks Barden both seeing time at QB though neither have been overly effective. Kalif Phillips leads the Charlotte rushing attack with 961 yards and five touchdowns and Austin Duke is the top receiver with 47 catches and five touchdowns. The Charlotte defense is allowing 35 points and 405.1 yards per game with nine interceptions, 11 fumble recoveries, and 19 sacks. Larry Ogunjobi, Caleb Clayton-Molby, and Nick Cook each have 52 tackles that lead Charlotte. Charlotte is learning that life can be tough when you take the step up to FCS from FBS.

Kentucky is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games, 0-4 against the spread following a loss, and 0-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Charlotte is 0-2-2 against the spread following a loss.

While Charlotte has been bad I can’t lay this kind of number with Kentucky so I will take the points.
