The Memphis Tigers will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Temple Owls in College Football action this Saturday afternoon.

The Memphis Tigers blew a 20 point 4th quarter lead and lost 35-34 this past Saturday to the 24th ranked Houston Cougars to drop to 8-2 (4-2 AAC West) on the season. Memphis outgained Houston by a 490-392 margin but couldn’t stop back-up QB Kyle Postma from completing the comeback with a 7 yard rushing touchdown with 1:27 left in the game. Leading the way for Memphis was RB Doroland Dorceus who had 116 rushing yards and a TD while adding a 61 yard TD reception. On the season, Memphis is averaging 43.7 ppg on 541.0 yards per game (344.7 passing, 196.3 rushing). Leading the Memphis offense has been QB Paxton Lynch who has 21 TD and 3 INT on the season while averaging 329.2 passing yds/game. Mose Frazier (65.9 yds/game, 3 TD) and Anthony Miller (67.4 yds/game, 4 TD) have been the main receiving threats for the Tigers. The Memphis rushing attack has been led by Doroland Dorceus (56.50 yds/game, 8 TD), Jarvis Cooper (39.33 yds/game, 5 TD) and Jamarius Henderson (36.50 yds/game, 4 TD). Defensively, Memphis is allowing their opponents to average 29.3 ppg on 432.7 yards per game (290.7 passing, 142.0 rushing). Memphis has only forced 12 turnovers on the season but still has a turnover margin of plus 1. Leading the Tigers defensively has been LB Wynton McManis who has 50 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

USA TODAY Sports

The Temple Owls fell to 8-2 (5-1 AAC East) on the season after being defeated by the South Florida Bulls 44-23 this past Saturday. Temple found themselves down early in this one as they were losing 31-10 at halftime and the usually stout Temple defense had no answers to the Owls rushing attack which compiled 326 yards in the game. Leading the way for Temple was QB P.J. Walker who completed 20 of 48 passes for 259 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. On the season, Temple is averaging 32.9 ppg on 363.2 yards per game (209.4 passing, 153.8 rushing). Leading the Owls offensive has been RB Jahad Thomas who has 15 rushing TD’s on the season while averaging 103.5 yds/game. QB P.J. Walker has thrown for 15 TD’s and 5 INT while averaging 202.9 passing yds/game. Robby Anderson (60.1 yds/game, 6 TD) and Ventell Bryant (45.7 yds/game, 3 TD) are the leading receivers for the Owls.  Defensively, Temple is holding their opponents to an average of 21.0 ppg on 357.4 yds/game (225.2 passing, 132.2 rushing). Temple has a turnover margin of plus 6 on the season and is led defensively by LB Tyler Matakevich who has 96 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and 5 INT on the season.

The Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Owls are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following at ATS loss and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

Both Memphis and Temple had tough losses last week and will be looking to rebound this week. Temple’s defense has really struggled the past two weeks however, as they still control their fate in the AAC East, I expect this experienced Temple team to get refocused this weekend. Memphis has a great offense but I think they’re going to have a harder time rebounding from their lost against Houston and Temple with Jahad Thomas will be able to do enough damage on offense for Temple to win this one at home. I’m taking Temple and points.
