The Utah State Aggies finished the regular season at 6-6 and they lost three of their last four games and four of their last six. All six of Utah State’s losses were to bowl teams but only two of them were by single digits. The Utah State offense is averaging 29.7 points and 370.8 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 21 times. Aggies QB Chuckie Keeton was injured much of the year but he started six games and he completed 51.7 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and six interceptions and he rushed for 182 yards and another touchdown. Devante Mays s Utah State’s leading rusher with 842 yards and nine touchdowns and Hunter Sharpe is the top receiver with 60 catches and eight touchdowns. Nick Vigil leads the Utah State defense with 140 tackles, Kyler Fackrell has 76 tackles, and LT Filiaga has 70 tackles. Utah State was just 1-5 in away games this season.
Akron is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, 5-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games. Utah State is 0-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four games.
Neither of these offenses are inspiring and this game isn’t a can’t miss as it could be one of the worst games of bowl season and I expect it to stay under the total and the under 46.5 is my free pick.
