The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Baylor Bears face off on Tuesday in College Football’s Belk Bowl.
The North Carolina Tar Heels were one of the big surprises in college football this season going 11-2 losing their opener and then not losing again until losing to number one Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. The North Carolina offense is averaging 40.9 points and 486.9 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 17 times. UNC QB Marquise Williams has completed 61.4 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions and he has rushed for 867 yards and 11 touchdowns. Elijah Hood leads the Tar Heels in rushing with 1,345 yards and 17 touchdowns and Ryan Switzer is the top receiver with 52 catches and six touchdowns and Quinshad Davis has 49 catches and four touchdowns. Shakeel Rashad leads UNC with 110 tackles, Donnie Miles has 106 tackles, and Jeff Schoettmer has 85 tackles. North Carolina’s loss to Clemson was controversial and they are out to prove they are one of the best teams in the nation.
USA TODAY Sports
The Baylor Bears finished the season at 9-3 losing three of their last four games as injuries just took over especially at the QB spot. The Baylor offense is averaging 48 points and 604.6 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 25 times. Chris Johnson is left as the Bears QB and he has completed just 39.5 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Shock Linwood leads the Baylor rushing attack with 1,329 yards and 10 touchdowns and Corey Coleman is the top receiver with 74 receptions and 20 touchdowns. The Baylor defense is allowing 27.5 points and 389 yards per game with 13 interceptions, 11 fumble recoveries, and 29 sacks. Grant Campbell leads the Baylor defense with 90 tackles, Travon Blanchard has 81 tackles, and Taylor Young has 76 tackles. Baylor was thinking playoffs but they couldn’t recover from having to go so deep into the QB stable.
North Carolina is 6-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 4-1 against the spread following a loss, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five neutral site games. Baylor is 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 non-conference games, 16-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six games.
The total is at 69 but it has been moving but I still expect a shootout and for it to go over.
