Boston College Eagles 2016 Preview
The Boston College Eagles need to stay healthy and score points to succeed in 2016.
Overview: Steve Addazio finished 3-9 in 2015 with an Eagles squad that outscored opponents 17-15 so he must find a way to be competitive on the scoreboard and help out the defensive side of the football.

Offense: Scot Loeffler takes over as the Eagles offensive coordinator and will try to piece together some semblance of a scoring threat. Loeffler will likely go with former Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles who is a four star athlete. Boston College has most of their receiving options back in Thad Smith, Elijah Robinson and Charlie Callinan but we are talking about a combined 42 receptions. A healthy Jon Hilliman and Tyler Rouse pace the BC rushing attack that features three returning starters on the O-Line although the run averaged less then four yards.
Defense: The Eagles lose DE Mehdi Abdesmad but the defensive line still looks solid with ends Harold Landry and Kevin Kavalec bringing back 22.5 TFL while tackle Truman Gutapfel recorded 7.5 TFL in 2015 with enough players back for a quality rotation. Steven Daniels and his 16 TFL are gone at linebacker but Boston College gets back Matt Milano with 17.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks along with Connor Strachan with 12.5 TFL so this unit will be just fine. The BC secondary gets back seven of their top eight with SS John Johnson defensing six passes while corners Kamrin Moore and Isaac Yiadom broke up four passes each in eight and nine games respectively.
Special Teams: Satchel Ziffer takes over the BC punting duties while Colton Lichtenberg is listed as the top placekicker after attempting just six field goals a year ago. Michael Walker is back to return kicks with Thad Smith as the new BC punt returner.
Outlook: The defense might not be as good as last year but the offense should be better although make no mistake that Boston College will be defined by their ‘D’. I expect more winning in 2016 but I can’t predict a team that has so many scoring issues.
