The Appalachian State Mountaineers visit Neyland Stadium to face Tennessee Volunteers.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are one of the favorites to win the Sun Belt with their ability to do everything. The potent Mountaineers offense will once again be led by dual threat quarterback Taylor Lamb who has the potential to pass for over 2,500 yards and run for more then 500 yards. The ASU passing attack is questionable with Shaedon Meadors the most experienced receiver with 21 receptions which means guys like Jaquil Capel and Jaylan Barbour will be asked to assume bigger roles. The Mountaineers have a strong rushing game behind Marcus Cox with Jalin Moore getting the leftover touches with an O-Line that returns three starters.

The Tennessee Volunteers outscored opponents 35-20 and return much of that experience. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw for nearly 2,300 yards and has the opportunity to exceed those numbers in what looks to be a receiver by committee attack. Jauan Jennings, Josh Malone and Josh Smith might be penciled in as the Vols top receiving options but everybody will catch a pass in this offense. Dobbs gives the Vols a possible 1,000 yards on the ground but Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara give the ground game big potential especially with the offensive line getting back three starters and several with staring experience.
The under is 5-0 in Mountaineers last 5 games in September and the over is 5-1 in Mountaineers last 6 games overall while the Mountaineers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Volunteers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and the over is 19-7 in Volunteers last 26 games in September while the Volunteers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games on grass. I think the best play is the over because the Vols will score and Appalachian State is no slouch…
