The Temple Owls brace for the option of the Army Black Knights on opening day at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Army Black Knights have been something of an afterthought in NCAA football as they are always overshadowed by Air Force and Navy. With Jeff Monken entering his second year as head coach the Black Knights look to improve with quarterback Chris Carter distributing the ball while showing decent throwing ability although whether the ball goes in the air at all is something I have to see to believe and so would leading receiver Edger Poe who caught 16 balls a season ago. However, Army will only go as far as their run will take them and the production of Aaron Kemper, Jordan Asbury and John Trainor will be key in moving the chains and burning the clock.

The Temple Owls are trying to make a bigger name for themselves on the national stage and I think they have been inching that way. The Owls lean heavily on the playmaking ability of quarterback PJ Walker who broke 3,000 passing yards a year ago but needs to improve his accuracy and connect more often with the likes of Ventell Bryant, Adonis Jennings and Romond DeLoatch looking to catch more balls. Jahad Tomas is the Owls top gun on the ground but he is a very dangerous receiver out of the backfield and has to be accounted for. If all else fails, Temple has enough firepower on the defensive side of the football to prevent the scoreboard from getting out of hand.
The Black Knights are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 Friday games and are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games while going 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The under is 5-0 in Owls last 5 versus Independents and is 5-0 in Owls last 5 non-conference games while going 4-0 in Owls last 4 games overall. The Black Knights are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 meetings and the over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings while the favorite is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings. I’m taking Army only because of the points…
