The Bowling Green Falcons and Ohio State Buckeyes open the season Saturday at Ohio Stadium on the BTN.

The Bowling Green Falcons begin a new era under head coach Mike Jinks, who is a former running backs coach for Texas Tech. James Knapke will replace Matt Johnson at quarterback, who threw for 46 touchdowns last season. Gehrig Dieter and Ronnie Moore return at wide receiver after combining for more than 1,900 yards and 16 touchdowns while Teo Redding had 13 receptions. The Bowling Green Falcons ground game averaged 180 yards per contest last season and Fred Coppet returns after racking up 825 yards and five touchdowns. The Ohio State Buckeyes enter another season as a national championship contender. J.T. Barrett returns at quarterback after throwing for 992 yards and 11 touchdowns. Corey Smith and Noah Brown return at wide receiver after not contributing much last season while Marcus Baugh had two receptions. The Ohio State Buckeyes ground game averaged 245 yards per contest last season and Mike Weber will takeover at running back as a freshman. Defensively, Ohio State allowed 15.1 points and 311 yards per game. Raekwon McMillan returns after 119 tackles, Tyquan Lewis had eight sacks and Gareon Conley had two interceptions.

The Falcons are 39-18-2 ATS in their last 59 road games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Buckeyes are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

After how many close games and failed attempts of covering the spread Ohio State had last season, I'm not laying this much chalk in the first game. Instead, I will side with the over here. The Buckeyes are going to put up points with Barrett back under center and Bowling Green is good for a couple of cheap scores with a deep wide receiver corps.

Lots of points here.
