Penn State vs. Kent State - 9/3/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Penn State Nittany Lions look for a breakthrough season after 14 wins the last two seasons. Trace McSorley will take over at starting quarterback after throwing for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Godwin and DaeSean Hamilton return at wide receiver after combining for more than 1,600 yards and 11 touchdowns while Saeed Blacknall had eight receptions. The Penn State Nittany Lions ground game averaged 134 yards per contest last season and Saquon Barkley returns after racking up 1,067 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Penn State allowed 21.8 points and 324 yards per game. Jason Cabinda returns after 100 tackles, Brandon Bell had 5.5 sacks and Grant Haley had two interceptions.

The Golden Flashes are 9-22 ATS in their last 31 non-conference games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Nittany Lions are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

Kent State has shown nothing over the last several years to make me beleive it can go into Happy Valley and compete. Penn State will remain solid defensively and has talent offensively at the skill positions. This game could get out of hand quickly due to a lack of athletes for the Golden Flashes.

Give me PSU in a blowout.
