The Line: Texas A&M Aggies -3 -- Over/Under: 56 See the Latest Odds
The Texas A&M Aggies and the UCLA Bruins kick off their 2016 college football season as they face off on Saturday at Kyle Field.
The Texas A&M Aggies had a rough off season with players transferring but it has been a strong recruiting run for Kevin Sumlin and they should be loaded again this season. With several QB transfers over the recent years it is now a QB transferring in from Oklahoma, Trevor Knight, who will be the starter for the Aggies this season. Texas A&M starting running back Keith Ford is also a transfer in from Oklahoma and he is a big play threat type of back. Texas A&M is loaded at WR with Christian Kirk, Ricky Seals-Jones, Speedy Noil, and Josh Reynolds all experienced and talented. Defensively for the Aggies defensive end Myles Garrett is potentially the best defensive player in the nation and a top NFL draft pick and they will be relying on him to bring the heat on opposing QB’s and along with Daeshon Hall they accounted for 19.5 sacks last season. Otaro Alaka should sure up the Aggies linebacking group as he missed most of last season but was the MVP of the Liberty Bowl. Texas A&M looks loaded in the secondary as well with Armani Watts and Justin Evans. Texas A&M are traditionally fast starters and they are hoping this year is no different.

The UCLA Bruins have high expectations once again this season but they have fallen short of expectations in recent years. UCLA QB Josh Rosen always seems to earn high praise but he throws a lot of bad passes including 11 interceptions and the bulk of those were costly. The UCLA skill positions are thin on experience as Soso Jamabo take over at running back and Nate Starks should see plenty of action as well. The Bruins receivers are all gone except Darren Andrews and most of the offensive line is gone as well. UCLA has talent on defense but they couldn’t stop the run last season. Jayon Brown returns at LB for the Bruins as do both safeties Jaleel Wadood and Randall Goforth for a strong secondary. UCLA has talent on the roster but how many wins that translates to is unsure.
Texas A&M is 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games, 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games, and 11-4 against the spread in September games. UCLA is 6-0 against the spread against the SEC, 2-5-1 against the spread in their last non-Pac-12 games, and 0-4 against the spread on grass.
I see point being scored in this one so my free pick is going to be the over which is set at 56.
