The Western Michigan Broncos travel to Ryan Field looking for the upset of the Northwestern Wildcats.
The Western Michigan Broncos possess one of the better mid major offenses in the country and they should approach 2015’s 36 point average. Broncos quarterback Zach Terrell threw for 3,600+ yards with a few quality yards gained using his legs. WMU will certainly miss wide receiver David Braverman but Corey Davis was a star with 91 catches in 2015 with Carrington Thompson and Keishawn Watson giving Terrell options. WMU was much more then a passing team with Jamauri Bogan and Jarvion Franklin potentially giving the rushing attack close to 2,000 yards with four starters coming back on the offensive line.

The Northwestern Wildcats were an impressive 10-3 in 2015 but when the offense scores less then 20 points the defense is carrying the load. Wildcats quarterback Clayton Thorson threw for 1.522 yards but struggled to get the ball downfield and was little more then a 50% passer although his 542 rushing yards and nearly seven yard average was outstanding. The rushing attack gets everybody back with N’Western expecting another big performance from Justin Jackson after he ran for 1, 415 yards on a monster 313 carries. The Wildcats lose three of their top four receivers and will lean on guys like Marcus McShepard, Austin Carr and Solomon Vault and hope the air game is viable. The Wildcats return six players with starting experience and hopefully all can stay healthy.
The over is 4-0 in Broncos last 4 games on grass and the Broncos are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in September while the over is 5-1-1 in Broncos last 7 non-conference games. The Wildcats are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 versus the MAC and the under is 9-0 in Wildcats last 9 games in September while going 9-1 in Wildcats last 10 versus the MAC. This could be a toss up in my view…
