The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a week 2 battle of week 1 college football winners.

The Alabama Crimson Tide got their defense of their national Championship off in style with a dominating 52-6 win over USC in Arlington, Texas. The Alabama offense was in mid-season form rushing for 242 yards and throwing for 223 yards but they turned the ball over twice. At QB for the Crimson Tide Jalen Hurts and Blake Barnett both saw plenty of action with Hurts completing 6 of his 11 passes with two of them going for touchdowns and he also ran for two scores while Barnett was 5 for 6 with a touchdown. In the Bama backfield Damien Harris rushed for 140 yards on just 9 carries and Bo Scarbrough rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown. ArDarius Stewart was Alabama’s top receiver with four catches and two touchdowns, O.J. Howard had three catches, and Calvin Ridley had two catches. The Alabama defensive was crushing allowing just 194 total yards, getting 3 sacks, and an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Anthony Averett led the Tide with 8 tackles, Minkah Fitzpatrick had 6 tackles, and Jonathan Allen had two sacks. Alabama looks to be a worthy number one ranked team it it will take a big effort to knock them from that perch.

Alabama vs. WKU - 9/10/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers got their season started on the right foot blowing out Rice 46-14. The WKU offense rushed for 97 yards but threw for 552 and they didn’t turn the ball over. At QB USF transfer Mike White completed 25 of his 31 passes for 517 yards and three touchdowns. Anthony Wales and Quinton Baker handled the rushing duties gaining 58 and 42 yards respectively and Nicholas Norris was the top receiver with 7 catches and two touchdowns and Taywan Taylor and Nacarius Fant each had five catches. Defensively Western Kentucky allowed 291 yards while grabbing two interceptions. T.J. McCollum led the way for WKU with 12 tackles, Joe Brown had 7 tackles, and Tanner Reeves and Keith Brown each had six tackles. Western Kentucky has been a solid program for several years running and this is a big chance for them to show they belong with the biggest names in college football.

Alabama is 4-1 against the spread in their last four home games, 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games, 4-11-1 against the spread in their last 16 non-SEC games, and 0-6 against the spread against CUSA. Western Kentucky is 4-0 against the spread following a win, 5-0 against the spread in their last five games, 17-8 against the spread on the road against a team with a winning home record, and 5-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread.

No doubt about the Tide looked awesome in week 1 but this is a little bit of tough spot as they don’t have all of that extra time to prepare and WKU isn’t a scrub team. Look for WKU to make this at least closer than this gigantic number.
