The Eastern Michigan Eagles opened the season with a big win over Mississippi Valley State but they take a huge step up this week. The EMU offense scored 61 points while gaining 479 yards. Eagles QB Todd Porter completed 68.2 percent of his passes with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Shaq Vann led the Eastern Michigan rushing attack with 160 yards and 2 touchdowns and Ian Eriksen had 97 yards and 2 touchdowns while Nigel Kilby was the top receiver with 4 catches and Antoine Porter and Sergio Bailey had 3 catches each. Defensively EMU allowed just 14 points and 201 yards with 4 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries. Kyle Rachwell was the Eagles top tackler with 10, Justin Moody had 7, and Pat O’Connor had 6 including 2 sacks. While Eastern Michigan cruised to their win it’s tough to tell much as they played an opponent that didn’t have a roster to put up much of a contest.
Missouri is 19-8 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 1-4 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, and 15-5 against the spread following a loss. Eastern Michigan is 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight games, 15-38 against the spread following a win, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five non-conference games.
Missouri loves to throw the football and expect them to be slinging it here. Eastern Michigan isn’t as bad as they once were but they are way over-matched here.
