TV: NBC

The Nevada Wolf Pack will travel to Notre Dame Stadium to take on the 10th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Nevada Wolf Pack survived a scare from the FCS Cal Poly Mustangs but was able to open their season with a 30-27 OT victory. Nevada looked like they were going to be able to cruise to victory after taking a 21-7 lead late in the 1st quarter however, was only able to score 3 points over the final three quarters and need an TD run by James Butler in OT to prevent the upset. Nevada’s offensive struggled a bit in 2015 as they ranked just 86th in the country in total yards per game (375.2 yds/game) and it seemed to continue to struggle against Cal Poly as they were outgained by the Mustangs by a 445-363 margin. Leading the way for the Wolf Pack was RB James Butler who had 123 yards and 2 TD’s on 21 carries. QB Tyler Stewart completed 17 of 23 passes for 189 yards and 2 TD’s. Stewart did a god job at spreading the ball around to multiple receivers a nine Wolf Pack receivers had at least 1 catch with Jerico Richardson leading the way with 43 yards on 4 receptions. Defensively, Nevada had a ton of trouble stopping the run as the Mustangs were able to pile up 383 rushing yards on the Wolf Pack with an average 5.4 yds/carry. Nevada’s strength on defense is in their secondary, which returned all of their starters from 2015, however, the defensive line and linebackers is very inexperienced and will need to quickly find ways to stop the rushing attack of their opponents. Leading the way for Nevada against Cal Poly was DB Dameon Baber who had 8 tackles and LB Alex Bertrando who had 10 tackles.

Notre Dame vs. Nevada - 9/10/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The 18th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish dropped a heart-breaking 50-47 double-OT loss to the Texas Longhorns this past Sunday. In a back and forth game, the Fighting Irish scored 21 unanswered points in the 2nd half to comeback from a 31-14 deficit and was able to block an extra-point attempt and score the 2-point conversation to tie the game 37-37 and force OT. Unfortunately, Notre Dame had no answers to QB Tyrone Swoopes in OT who scored two rushing TD’s including the game winner. Notre Dame was outgained by Texas by a 517-444 margin and was led by QB DeShone Kizer who completed 15 of 24 passes for 215 yards and 5 TD’s while gaining 77 rushing yards and a TD on 13 carries. RB Tarean Folston had 88 yards on 18 carries while WR Equanimeous St. Brown had 75 yards and 2 TD’s on 5 receptions. WR’s C.J. Sanders (3 rec, 55 yds), Josh Adams (3 rec, 46 yds), and Torii Hunter Jr. (4 rec, 37 yds) each had a TD reception for Norte Dame. Defensively, Notre Dame lost a lot talent from last year’s squad that ranked T-39th in the country in scoring defense (24.1 ppg) and 45th in total yards allowed (372.7 yds/game). Norte Dame had trouble getting any pressure on Texas’s Freshman QB, Shane Buechele, as the Fighting Irish didn’t record any sacks in the loss. Leading the way for the Fighting Irish’s defense was LB Nyles Morgan (13 tackles) and DB Shaun Crawford (5 tackles, 1 INT).

The Wolfpack are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Fighting Irish are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Nevada has some offensive weapons that could give Norte Dame some headaches, however, after giving up almost 400 yards of rushing offensive to a FCS school projected to be in the bottom half of their conference, I just don’t see the Wolfpack being able to contain with DeShone Kizer and the Norte Dame offensive. I think Norte Dame regroups after their tough loss and gives the home crowd a blow-out victory in this one. Take Norte Dame to cover.
