The Troy Trojans look to stay competitive when they visit the Clemson Tigers Saturday.
The Troy Trojans are supposed to be improved in 2016 but I don’t know if a 57-17 victory versus subdivision Austin Peay told us anything except that the Governors were overmatched. Numbers don’t always tell the story but they did here as the Trojans dominated the yardage battle 706-254 with the ability to both run and throw. Troy quarterback Brandon Silver was deadly efficient, completing 20-27 for 229 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Ismail Saleem recording four receptions for 106 yards and a score. The Trojans were dominant on the ground as well behind 161 yards and a TD from Jordan Chunn while Josh Anderson and Kaleb Barker combining 126 yards on seven touches with a TD each.

The Clemson Tigers are one of a handful of teams picked to be National Championship caliber. The Tigers season got off on the right foot with a hard fought 19-13 road victory as a seven point favorite. Defense was the key for Clemson who held a 399-262 yardage advantage while forcing three turnovers while overcoming a pair of giveaways by their own offense. Wayne Gallman paced the Tigers rushing attack with 123 yards on 30 carries with a one yard touchdown run. Deshaun Watson missed a few throws but was still good enough by completing 19-34 for 248 yards with a score and an interception with Mike Williams having a field day with nine catches for 174 yards.
The Trojans are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and the over is 4-1 in Trojans last 5 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game while the under is 4-1 in Trojans last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The over is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game while going 5-0 in Tigers last 5 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. I’m just taking the points and hoping Clemson doesn’t push the issue…
