On Saturday, September 24 at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, the Pittsburgh Panthers and the North Carolina Tar Heels will meet in Week 4 college football action.

Pittsburgh comes into this game with a 2-1 record following a nail-biter 45-38 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Panthers defense was tissue paper in that one, allowing an Oklahoma State school record 540 yards to Mason Rudolph and a whopping 296 receiving yards to James Washington. Pittsburgh’s Nathan Peterman would underwhelm on offense with a 14-of-29 line for 237 yards, a touchdown and a pick. James Conner kept the Panthers afloat with 24 carries for 111 yards and a score, while Jester Weah finished with 85 yards and a TD on two catches. For the season, that gives Peterman 503 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions, while Conner holds 63 carries for 281 yards and three scores. Weah leads the Panthers with 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns on six catches.

Over on the North Carolina side, they’ve got a 2-1 record as well, following a home-opening win over James Madison 56-28. Tar Heels QB Mitch Trubisky threw for a career-high 432 yards and three touchdowns in that one, setting school records for consecutive single-game completions (18) and consecutive passes without an interception (156). Elijah Hood buoyed North Carolina on the ground with 18 carries for 106 yards and two scores, while Ryan Switzer finished with a team-high 101 receiving yards and a TD on five receptions.

The Panthers are 2-5 ATS versus a team with a winning record, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on grass. Pittsburgh is also 2-7 ATS in their last nine games in September, and 1-5 in their last six games following an ATS loss.

Meanwhile, North Carolina is 8-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record, and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win. The Tar Heels are also 5-2 ATS in their last seven games on grass, and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.

North Carolina’s offense is simply too good for Pittsburgh to keep up with, and that’s really all this one boils down to. The Tar Heels should blow right through this game and never look back, an easy cover.
