Northwestern vs. Nebraska - 9/24/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Northwestern Wildcats have a chance to beat their third ranked team since last season and get back to a .500 record. Clayton Thorson is completing 49 percent of his passes for 707 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Thorson has 11 touchdown passes on his last 397 pass attempts. Austin Carr and Macan Wilson have combined for 386 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Garrett Dickerson has eight receptions. The Northwestern Wildcats ground game is averaging 98.3 yards per contest, and Justin Jackson leads the way with 260 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Northwestern is allowing 14.7 points and 394.7 yards per game. Jaylen Prater leads the Wildcats with 30 tackles, Ifeadi Odenigbo has one sack and Jared McGee has one interception.

The Cornhuskers are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Wildcats are 7-16 ATS in their last 23 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games. The Cornhuskers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

Nebraska's win over Oregon was impressive and we backed the Cornhuskers in that game. However, assuming Nebraska will be able to handle that success and avoid a letdown in its first road game is still in question. The Cornhuskers have lost four of their last seven road games and did lose to this Northwestern team at home last season. Northwestern has goals of making a bowl game and is a tough defensive minded team that doesn't give up much of anything easy.

Not my favorite game of the weekend, but I'll take my free touchdown here.
