The Tennessee Volunteers and the Florida Gators face off on Saturday in a SEC college football rivalry game.
The Tennessee Volunteers are off to a 3-0 start to the season and they are hoping this is the year they end their losing streak to Florida. The Tennessee offense is averaging 31 points and 351 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 4 times. Vols QB Joshua Dobbs has completed 60 percent of his passes with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions and he has rushed for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jalen Hurd is Tennessee’s top rusher with 270 yards and 2 touchdowns and Josh Malone is the leading receiver with 9 and Preston Williams and Alvin Kamara each have 8 catches. The Tennessee defense is allowing 18.7 points and 336.7 yards per game with 1 interception, 5 fumble recoveries, and 3 sacks. Jalen Reeves-Maybin is the Volunteers top tackler with 18, Todd Kelly Jr. has 17 tackles, and Micah Abernathy and Darrin Kirkland Jr. each have 16 tackles. Tennessee is thinking this is their best chance to end the losing to the Gators and after that it could be a special year.

The Florida Gators are off to a 3-0 start to the season but they are going to have to overcome big obstacles to keep themselves unbeaten. The Florida offense is averaging 33.7 points and 466 yards per game and they have turned the ball over twice. Gators QB Luke Del Rio is out and it will be Austin Appleby who never was much of a winner at Purdue and will have to play his very best game here. Jordan Scarlett is Florida’s top rusher with 175 yards, Mark Thompson has 166 yards, and Lamical Perine has 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brandon Powell is UF’s top receiver with 14 while Antonio Callaway has 13 catches. The Florida defense is allowing 4.7 points and 129.7 yards per game with 4 interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 16 sacks. Jarrad Davis is Florida’s top tackler with 18, Marcus Maye has 14 as does Alex Anzalone. The Gators are defense first and that should serve them well under the circumstances.
Tennessee is 5-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 SEC games, and 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games following a loss. Florida is 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 10-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 2-5 against the spread in their last 7 games. The road team is 6-1-1 against the spread in the last 8 meetings of these two.
This one should be a hard hitting smash mouth game and I expect the defenses to win the battle and for this one to come in under the total.
