The Line: Virginia Cavaliers +2 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Over at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville on Saturday, September 24, the Central Michigan Chippewas will meet up with the Virginia Cavaliers in Week 4 college football action.

The Chippewas head into this game on a roll at 3-0 following a Week 3 win over UNLV 44-21. In that matchup, Central Michigan’s Cooper Rush threw a whopping six touchdown passes to help the Chippewas pull away in the second half and seal the victory. Rush would finish 20-of-33 for 352 yards and a QBR of 92.5. On the ground, Jonathan Ward led the way with 12 carries for 51 yards for Central Michigan. The big aerial target was Corey Willis, who put up six receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns. On the season for the Chippewas, Rush holds 957 yards and 11 touchdowns to three interceptions. Devon Spalding still leads the team with 31 carries for 166 yards and one touchdown, while Jesse Kroll has a team-high 205 yards on 12 catches with one touchdown.

As for the Cavaliers, they’ve hit the skids in the early part of the season with three straight losses to open things up. West Virginia’s latest defeat came on Saturday against Connecticut, as UConn kicker Bobby Puyol bagged the game-winner from 43 yards out with 1:33 left in the fourth. Virginia’s Alex Furbank would try to tie it up as time expired, but missed a 20-yarder that would seal a 13-10 Cavaliers loss. Virginia’s Kurt Bankert threw for 241 yards but couldn’t find the end zone here. Albert Reid would lead Virginia with 15 carries for 73 yards and the team’s lone touchdown, while Keeon Johnson posted six receptions for 73 yards. Bankert now owns 698 pass yards overall with five touchdowns and four picks. Reid has 227 yards and two scores on 36 carries, while Johnson has caught 17 balls for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

The Chippewas are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games in September, and 8-1 ATS in their last nine non-conference games. Central Michigan is also 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games, and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games overall.

As for the Cavaliers, they’re 5-0 ATS against a team with a winning record, and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games on grass. Virginia is also 1-3-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games, and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five September games.

I’m on the Central Michigan bandwagon now, as they went out and proved that their wild Week 2 victory wasn’t a fluke. I’ll take the Chippewas to cover here.
