The Line: Clemson Tigers -3.5 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

We’ve got a great top-five college football matchup looming from Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 1 as the Louisville Cardinals visit the Clemson Tigers.

Louisville heads into this one at 4-0, following yet another big victory in Week 4. The Cardinals were all over Marshall in that one, eventually coming home with a 59-28 victory. QB Lamar Jackson had another big game, tossing for a career-high 417 yards and accounting for seven touchdowns (five passing; two rushing). Jamari Staples caught a game-high five passes for 94 yards, while Brandon Radcliff held down the rush with 19 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown.

On the year, that gives Jackson 1330 yards passing with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions for Louisville. Jackson also leads the team in rushing with 61 carries, 526 yards and a whopping 12 scores on the ground. James Quick is tops in receiving for the Cardinals so far, with 16 receptions, 360 yards and three touchdowns.

Over on the Clemson side, they’re coming into Week 5 with a 4-0 record as well, following a 26-7 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Tigers were up 23-0 at halftime and pretty much just coasted the rest of the way. Clemson QB Deshaun Watson was in control here, logging a 32-of-48 line for 304 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. Ray-Ray McCloud was the high man in receiving, with eight grabs for 101 yards. Wayne Gallman didn’t have to do much on the ground for the Tigers, logging 17 carries for 59 yards and a TD.

So far this season for Clemson, Watson has posted 996 passing yards with nine touchdowns and four picks. Gallman, meanwhile, leads the rushers with 63 carries for 256 yards and three scores. Mike Williams has 21 receptions for 306 yards and a TD to lead the Tigers this year.

The Cardinals are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games following a straight-up win, and 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games overall. Louisville is also 1-5 ATS in their last six games in October, and 28-11-1 ATS in their last 40 road games.

As for Clemson, they’re 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a straight-up win, and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. The Tigers are also 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win, and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.

This is probably the stoutest test that either team has faced all year long, and it will be a hard-hitting battle. That said, Jackson continues to impress on a weekly basis, and he should have no trouble putting the Tigers to bed. I’ll take Louisville all the way here.
