Memorial Stadium and the Indiana Hoosiers host the Michigan State Spartans in Big Ten action.
The Michigan State Spartans haven’t looked dominant through three games and they are slow starters or just an average squad. After outscoring Notre Dame 36-28, week four saw a lifeless Spartans team fall to visiting Wisconsin 30-6 where neither side of the ball looked good. Both teams finished right around 325 yards in offense but the Badgers won the battle of turnovers 4-2 and recovered a fumble for a touchdown which took all the life out of MSU. Michigan State didn’t run much given the score with LJ Scott totaling 51 yards on 14 carries. The real issue for the Spartans was the passing of Tyler O’Connor who completed just 18-38 for 224 yards and three interceptions with leading receiver Donnie Corley snagging four balls for 84 yards.

The Indiana Hoosiers looked decent in kicking off the season with a 2-0 mark but not so much in a 33-28 loss to visiting Wake Forest who is not known for their scoring. The Hoosiers dominated total yardage 611-352 but were mistake prone in the passing game with five interceptions including a 55 yard pick six. Indiana quarterback Richard Lagow connected on 28-47 for nearly 500 yards and three touchdowns but the five picks obviously negated any good that was done. Ricky Jones was the top Indiana receiving target with 208 yards on eight receptions while Nick Westbrook caught six balls for 129 yards including ten yard and 75 yard TD’s. The Hoosiers rushing attack was Devine Redding's16 carry, 68 yard effort which didn’t worry Wake Forest.
Michigan State are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and the under is 4-1 in Michigan State’s last 5 versus a team with a winning record and is 4-1 in Michigan State’s last 5 conference games. Indiana are 1-6 ATS versus a team with a winning record and Indiana are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in October while Indiana are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Indiana and is 8-0 in the last 8 meetings while the favorite is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings. I like Michigan State because they play well on the road and have the better defense…
