The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Syracuse Orange meet early Saturday afternoon at MetLife Stadium on ESPN.

The Syracuse Orange could also use a big victory in order to get a game above a .500 record. Eric Dungey is completing 65.4 percent of his passes for 1,367 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Dungey has two or more touchdown passes in all four games this season. Amba Etta-Tawo and Ervin Philips have combined for 995 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Steve Ishmael has 17 receptions. The Syracuse Orange ground game is averaging 124.7 yards per contest, and Dontae Strickland leads the way with 226 yards on 61 carries. Defensively, Syracuse is allowing 34.5 points and 466.8 yards per game. Zaire Franklin leads the Orange with 32 tackles, Chris Slayton has three sacks and Daivon Ellison has one interception.

The Orange are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Fighting Irish are 34-16-2 ATS in their last 52 games in October and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

I've seen nothing from Notre Dame that makes me want to lay double-digit chalk against anybody. The Irish lost to Texas, Michigan State and just lost to Duke at home. Duke! Syracuse has playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and could make this game very interesting if it can break off a few big plays. Keep in mind Notre Dame has allowed 14 plays of 25 or more yards this season. I just don't trust the Irish at all given what we've seen in the first month of the season, so I have no choice but to take the points in this contest.
