The Purdue Boilermakers open conference action on the road at the Maryland Terrapins.
The Purdue Boilermakers haven’t drawn much attention entering 2016 so a 2-1 record is a very good thing. The Boilermakers come off a 24-14 victory versus visiting Nevada where they dominated yardage 466-253 but were mistake prone with four turnovers while the Wolf Pack did not give the ball away. Purdue excelled at throwing the ball with David Blough going 21-30 for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns with an interception with Brycen Hopkins hauling in a 51 yard scoring strike and Bilal Marshall grabbing five passes for 82 yards including a 48 yard TD. The Boilermakers were tough on the ground behind Markell Jones 22 carry, 124 yard performance and five yard scoring burst.

I don’t know where the Maryland Terrapins fit in the Big Ten or if their 3-0 start is impressive or not until they play a few teams with some punch. The Terrapins come off of a double overtime 30-24 win at Central Florida where the offense wasn’t great with 373 yards while the defense gave up 455 but also forced four turnovers. The worry was whether Terps quarterback Perry Hills banged up shoulder caused his 10-23, 127 yard effort through the air and just how bad is it. Teldrick Morgan paced the Maryland receiving corps with a pair of receptions for 64 yards while Jawon Hamilton and Adrian Killins combined for combined for 125 yards on 17 touches.
Purdue are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and the over is 6-0 in Purdue’s last 6 games following a ATS win while the under is 2-0-2 in Purdue’s last 4 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game. The over is 5-1 in Maryland’s last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and Maryland are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf while the over is 5-1 in Maryland’s last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
If Hills is close to 100% I like Maryland as I would worry about miscues if I were backing the Boilermakers and the extra time the Terps have had to prepare...
