The Rutgers Scarlet Knights face a rested Ohio State Buckeyes squad on the road.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have not garnered too much respect in the world of Big Ten football but I have to think they opened a few eyes in a 14-7 loss at Iowa as a two touchdown underdog. This wasn’t one for fans of offense as the Hawkeyes were outgained 383-355and had no passing attack. Rutgers quarterback Chris Laviano kept his team competitive by connecting on 13-24 for 190 yards and a 14 yard scoring strike to Andre Patton. The Scarlet Knights were surprisingly effective rushing the ball with Robert Martin totaling 106 yards on 21 totes with a trip to the endzone while Justin Goodwin added 76 yards on eleven touches. Janarion Grant gave the Scarlet Knights a game high 98 receiving yards in a near miss upset.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have yet to be challenged although many thought Oklahoma would give them a run for their money especially at home. Not even close as the Buckeyes won 45-24 and would have won playing on the moon. OSU held a slight 443-404 edge in real estate that was boosted by a pair of interceptions including a 68 yard pick six by Jerome Baker. The Buckeyes had their way on the ground behind the trio of Mike Weber, Curtis Samuel and JT Barrett and their nearly 300 yards. Barrett gave OSU an extremely efficient passing attack as he hit 14-20 for 152 yards and four touchdowns with Noah Brown snagging all four TD’s.
The Scarlet Knights are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game while going 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss. The Buckeyes are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while going 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. I really hate the massive spread but I know the Buckeyes cover if they want and I’m sure Rutgers effort versus Iowa caught their attention…
