The South Alabama Jaguars look to upset the San Diego State Aztecs for the second straight year.
The San Diego State Aztecs went in to their bye week with a 42-28 win at Norhern Illinois as a 12 point road favorite in week three. The 3-0 Aztecs held a slight edge in yards, 404-376 and a 2-1 advantage in turnovers while doing most of their damage on the ground. The SDSU passing attack was deadly efficient behind quarterback Christian Chapman who completed 11-19 for 126 yards and three touchdowns and an interception with Mikah Holder, Rashaad Penny and Kahale Warring snagging scoring tosses. San Diego State dominated the trenches where Donnel Pumphrey rambled for 230 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries.

The South Alabama Jaguars drew what turned out to be a tougher then expected assignment in Nicholls State in week four and escaped with a 41-40, overtime victory. The numbers favored the Jaguars 510-230 in yards but losing the turnover battle 4-2 hurt. Xavier Johnson paced USA on the ground with 103 yards and a pair of trips to the endzone while Deonta Moore added another 58 yards on eight carries. South Alabama quarterback Dallas Davis threw for 302 yards and a touchdown and four interceptions including a pick six with Kevin Kutchera catching four passes for 86 yards. The Colonels also scored on a blocked punt and had a 77 yard kick return that helped their scoring.
The Aztecs are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games in October and are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games while going 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf. The Jaguars are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up win and are 1-8 ATS vs. a team with a winning record while the over is 7-1-1 in Jaguars last 9 home games. If San Diego State plays hard for 60 minutes I like them but NIU did expose them a bit in the second half of their game…
