Two college football juggernauts will be colliding on Saturday, October 1 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor as the Wisconsin Badgers visit the Michigan Wolverines in Big 10 conference action.

Wisconsin comes into this game a perfect 4-0, with their latest victory coming last Saturday at Michigan State. The Badgers came out on top 30-6 in that one, buoyed by QB Alex Hornibrook, who posted 195 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-26 passing. Wisconsin RB Corey Clement did most of the heavy lifting here, rushing 23 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Leading the Badgers in receiving for the game was Jazz Peavy, who logged four receptions for 96 yards.

USA TODAY Sports

In total this year for Wisconsin, Hornbook has a 29-of-43 line for 378 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, proving he’s got what it takes to compete with the most talented NCAA teams out there. Clement is the Badgers’ leading rusher with 65 carries, 251 yards and five touchdowns so far. As for Peavy, he’s given Wisconsin 16 receptions for 274 yards and two TDs.

As for Michigan, they’ve decimated their competition in each game this year, leading to a perfect 4-0 record as well. The Wolverines are fresh off a 49-10 pummeling of Penn State, a game which featured six rushing touchdowns by Michigan. The Wolverines’ De’Veon Smith, Karan Higdon and Ty Isaac were unstoppable here, combining for 32 carries, 262 rush yards and four touchdowns. Michigan QB Wilton Speight didn’t have to do much as a result, finishing with a 21-of-34 line for 189 yards and one touchdown.

So far this year, Speight has been very efficient for the Wolverines with a 72-for-114 mark, 875 yards and a 9:1 TD:INT ratio. Smith leads the Michigan running game on 39 carries for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Not to be left out, Amara Darboh has amassed 17 receptions so far for 248 yards and four touchdowns for the Wolverines.

Wisconsin is 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall, and 4-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Wisconsin is also 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a straight-up win of more than 20 points.

Meanwhile, Michigan is 4-1 ATS in their last five games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game, and 4-1 ATS in their last five games after notching more than 200 rush yards in their previous game. Michigan is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall, and 4-1 ATS in their last five games on field turf.

There’s a lot of debate out there as far as how this game is going to go, and many people are predicting Wisconsin to win outright. Sure, the Badgers are ranked seventh in the nation in scoring defense, but Michigan has tallied at least 45 points in each of their first four games. That means Hornibrook is going to have to chuck the ball around to try and keep up, and I don’t see him having much success with that against this Wolverines defense. It will be the toughest test they’ve faced this year, but I’ll take Michigan to cover handily.
