The Kent State Golden Flashes look for a win on the road against the Buffalo Bulls.
There have been times when the Kent State Golden Flashes have looked good but at the end of the day the team is staring at a 1-4 record so it is what it is. The Golden Flashes fell to 1-4 following a 31-27 defeat to visiting Akron with The Zips scoring a touchdown with 20 seconds remaining. Kent held a 423-378 edge in yards and won the turnover battle 3-0 with nearly 38 minutes of possession so numbers aren’t always right. Nick Holley went from running back to quarterback and gave Kent State 117 rushing yards and a score on the ground while completing 19-35 for 285 yards with a pair of touchdowns and zero turnovers. Justin Rankin led the Golden Flashes receiving corps with 181 yards and a TD on ten catches in what turned out to be a decent effort offensively.

The Buffalo Bulls are really unknown but the numbers say they are 1-3 and that’s really about all we know with the win coming against Army in overtime. Buffalo had a rough time in all areas of a 35-3 loss at Boston College in which BC had 400 yards while UB mustered 67 yards and five first downs and held the ball for less then 17 minutes. The Bulls managed less then 30 rushing yards and around 1 ½ yards per carry. Buffalo quarterback Tyree Jackson completed 9-21 for 42 yards with Mason Schreck making a pair of receptions for 26 yards. Punter Kyle Deween was a busy man with eight punts as the numbers suggested UB had trouble offensively.
Kent State are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win and the under is 6-1 in Kent State’s last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record while the under is 6-1 in Kent State’s last 7 road games. The over is 6-1 in Buffalo’s last 7 conference games and Buffalo are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall while Buffalo are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points. The road team is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings and the underdog is 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 meetings while the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
More quarterback issues and Kent State has them but Holley didn’t look like a deer in the headlights so I’ll back them but I didn’t say I’d bet them…
