Illinois vs. Purdue - 10/8/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Illinois Fighting Illini are desperate to snap a three-game losing streak and haven’t lost four straight since the 2013 season. Wes Lunt is completing 61.7 percent of his passes for 798 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Lunt has one or less touchdown passes in seven of his last 11 games. Malik Turner and Justin Hardee have combined for 381 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Ainslie Johnson has five receptions. The Illinois Fighting Illini ground game is averaging 149 yards per contest, and Kendrick Foster leads the way with 221 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Illinois is allowing 29 points and 371.8 yards per game. Hardy Nickerson leads the Fighting Illini with 39 tackles, Carroll Phillips has four sacks and Darius Mosely has one interception.

The Boilermakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 1-4-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The Fighting Illini are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in October. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Illinois.

Purdue hasn't won a road game in quite some time and I'm sure that has something to do with this line. However, the road team has won the last four meetings between these two clubs and Purdue has beaten Illinois in three of the last five meetings overall. Illinois has also been outscored 49-113 in its last three games. I'm simply not sure the Fighting Illini are worthy of laying such a healthy number against anybody in the Big Ten. This should be a tight game where the points come in handy, as Purdue is eager to snap its nine-game road losing streak.

I'll take Purdue and my free touchdown.
