USA TODAY Sports

The Michigan State Spartans are desperate for a victory that would snap a brutal five-game losing streak. The Michigan State Spartans have seven wins over ranked teams since the 2014 season. Brian Lewerke is completing 53.2 percent of his passes for 281 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Lewerke has moved the chains 15 times on 25 completions. R.J. Shelton and Donnie Corley have combined for 851 receiving yards and six touchdowns while Monty Madaris has 17 receptions. The Michigan State Spartans ground game is averaging 155.2 yards per contest, and LJ Scott leads the way with 464 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Michigan State is allowing 29.7 points and 388 yards per game. Montae Nicholson leads the Michigan State Spartans with 57 tackles, Raequan Williams has two sacks and Andrew Dowell has one interception.

The Wolverines are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss. The Spartans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Wolverines are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Michigan State and 0-8 ATS in their last 8 meetings overall.

The Michigan State Spartans are god awful this season, as they have no answer at quarterback and their defense is no longer as stout as it's been in the past. On paper, the Michigan Wolverines should have their way with the Spartans. However, this is a rivalry game where I tend to throw the numbers out the window. A lot of the recent meetings between the Wolverines and Spartans have come down to the wire, and Michigan State has been on the winning side of the last three games.

So, while MSU isn't a good team at all, I'll take my three free touchdowns with the home team.
