The Marshall Thundering Herd were thought to be one of the better college football teams in the CUSA but it hasn’t turned out that way as a 27-24 loss to visiting Charlotte has the team staring at 2-5. The Thundering Herd were outgained 387-350 and turned the ball over twice and failed to score when the opportunity arose. Quarterback Chase Litton gave the Thundering Herd 262 yards on 32-46 and two touchdowns and an interception with Josh Knight and Deon-Tay McManus combining for 17 catches for 166 yards while Keion Davis ran for 90 yards and a TD on 18 carries.

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles have had a week off to rebound from a pair of college football defeats following a 45-10 defeat at LSU where they were beat up on both sides of the ball. The Golden Eagles were hammered 35-0 in the second half as they easily won the yardage battle 459-242 with USM unable to run or throw effectively. Southern Miss quarterback Nick Mullens went 25-36 for 161 yards but he was unable to stretch the field with Ito Smith and Allen Staggers combining for 13 catches for 81 yards while Smith was the only threat on the ground with 64 yards on 16 totes and a trip to the endzone.
