Coming up on Saturday, November 12 at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, we’ve got a fun Week 11 ACC college football matchup looming between the Miami Hurricanes and the Virginia Cavaliers.

The Hurricanes are entering play here with a 5-4 record so far, but they did win their last outing against Pittsburgh 51-28 this past Saturday. In that game, Miami QB Brad Kaaya went 32-of-47 for 356 yards and four touchdowns, while Mark Walton also had a nice day on the ground with 14 carries for 125 yards and a TD. Ahmmon Richards was the Hurricanes’ top receiver with eight catches for 144 yards.

On the season thus far, Kaaya is 179-of-285 for 2340 yards and a 17:6 TD:INT mark, and Walton leads Miami with 144 carries for 774 yards and 10 scores. Richards is tops in the Hurricanes receiving game with 31 catches for 632 yards and one TD.

Over on the Virginia side, they’re entering this weekend with a 2-7 record, fresh off a 27-20 defeat at Wake Forest. During that matchup, Virginia QB Kurt Benkert went 20-of-39 for 190 yards and two scores, but also had two picks. The Cavaliers rush was led by Taquan Mizzell with 16 carries for 80 yards, and Mizzell also led the receiving game on six catches for 79 yards and a TD.

So far this year, Benkert is 203-of-353 for 2287 yards and a 19:11 TD:INT ratio, while Mizzell leads the Virginia rush on 119 carries for 607 yards and four touchdowns. Olamide Zaccheaus is the Cavaliers’ lead receiver on 39 catches for 467 yards and six scores this year.

Miami is 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games following a straight-up win of more than 20 points, and 2-7 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Miami is also 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall, and 1-4 ATS in their last five games on grass.

As for Virginia, they’re 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss, and 4-1 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning road record. Virginia is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games in November, and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 conference games.

Miami has lost four of their last five games, but did look good against Pittsburgh this past weekend. As for Virginia, they’re on a four-game losing streak, but have scored at least 25 points in three of those games; they’re just getting burned defensively. Given that fact, I think Kaaya and the gang can find some holes here and exploit the Virginia weaknesses. I’ll take Miami to cover.
