The Tulane Green Wave will travel to Rentschler Field to take on the UConn Huskies this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Tulane Green Wave lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 3-8 (0-7 AAC) on the season after being defeated by the Temple Owls, 31-0, this past Saturday. Tulane had no answers on the offensive end against Temple and the Owls put this game out of reach after taking a 24-0 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Tulane was outgained by Temple by a 533-142 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. Leading the way for Tulane was RB Josh Rounds who had 37 rushing yards on 10 carries. On the season, Tulane is averaging 22.8 ppg on 334.2 total yards per game (108.5 passing, 225.6 rushing). Offensively, Tulane is led by their 25th ranked rushing offense. Leading the way for the Tulane backfield has been Dontrell Hilliard (12.3 att/g, 69.0 yds/g, 9 TD), Josh Rounds (9.9 att/g, 61.8 yds/g, 5 TD), and Lazedrick Thompson (5.8 att/g, 36.2 yds/g, 4 TD). UCONN vs. Tulane - 11/26/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The UConn Huskies lost their 5th straight game and dropped to 3-8 (1-6 AAC) on the season after being defeated by the Boston College Eagles, 30-0, this past Saturday. UConn continued to struggle on the offense end and couldn’t fight back after being down by a 10-0 margin at halftime. UConn was outgained by Boston College by a 337-121 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 4-0 margin. Leading the way for the Huskies was WR Noel Thomas who had 4 receptions for 29 yards. On the season, UConn is averaging 15.0 ppg on 321.1 total yards per game (209.8 passing, 111.3 rushing). Offensively, UConn has been led by WR Noel Thomas who has 3 TD’s on the season and is averaging 101.7 yds/g on 8.3 rec/g. QB Donovan Williams has completed 25 of 50 passes for 196 passing yards and 3 INT since taking over the starter duties from Bryant Shirreffs (58.7 comp %, 7 TD, 6 INT, 223.3 yds/g). The Huskies backfield has been led by Arkeel Newsome (12.0 att/g, 49.9 yds/g, 4 TD) and Ron Johnson (6.5 att/g, 21.7 yds/g, 4 TD). Outside of Noel Thomas, the Huskies leading receivers have been Hergy Mayala (2.3 rec/g, 31.3 yds/g) and Arkeel Newsome (2.1 rec/g, 22.3 yds/g, TD). Defensively, UConn is allowing their opponents to average 27.2 ppg on 409.8 total yards per game (273.6 passing, 136.2 rushing).

The Green Wave are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home however, just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Huskies are 16-39-2 ATS in their last 57 games overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.

This is certainly not the most exciting of College Football games this week as Tulane and UConn are a combined 1-13 in conference play this season. UConn has scored a combined 3 points in their last 3 games and as it seems that their biggest weapon in WR Noel Thomas, has struggled with new QB Donovan Williams and for the fact they rushed for -6 yards last week against BC, there is no way I can trust UConn to cover any spread even if they are home. I’m probably going to stay away from this one but as long as the Tulane rushing attack can score a few points, I think the pick is Tulane in this one.
