UNLV vs. Nevada - 11/26/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The UNLV Rebels dropped to 4-7 (3-4 MW) on the season after being defeated by the 20th ranked Boise State Broncos, 42-25, this past Saturday. UNLV had no answer for the Broncos Jeremy McNichols and couldn’t fight back after falling behind 21-10 at halftime. UNLV was outgained by Boise State by a 380-302 margin however, did win the turnover battle by a 1-0 margin. Leading the way for UNLV was QB Kurt Palandech who completed 10 of 20 passes for 113 yards and a TD while also rushing for 64 yards and 2 TD’s. On the season, UNLV is averaging 33.5 ppg on 413.6 total yards per game (166.7 passing, 246.9 rushing). Offensively, UNLV has been led by the backfield duo of Charles Williams (12.0 att/g, 65.0 yds/g, 3 TD) and Lexington Thomas (13.3 att/g, 70.2 yds/g, 8 TD). QB Kurt Palandech has completed 40 of 75 passes this season for 526 yards, 5 TD, and an INT. Devonte Boyd (4.5 rec/g, 74.6 yds/g, 4 TD), Andrew Price (1.5 rec/g, 21.0 yds/g, 3 TD), Darren Woods Jr. (2.2 rec/g, 31.5 yds/g, TD), and Mekhi Stevenson (1.1 rec/g, 14.1 yds/g, 2 TD) have been the leading receivers for the Rebels. Defensively, UNLV is allowing their opponents to average 36.0 ppg on 422.7 total yards per game (247.7 passing, 175.0 rushing).

The Wolfpack are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games in November however, are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Rebels are 2-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win.

Nevada picked up a much-needed win in exciting fashion against Utah State and although they won’t be able to be eligible for a bowl game this season, must be exiting with what they’ve seen out of sophomore QB Ty Gangi. UNLV has played tough all season and is certainly headed in the right direction under Head Coach, Tony Sanchez, however for the Rebels to get more competitive, they need to find answers on the defensive end as they rank 111th in the country in scoring defense. Nevada’s rushing defense is hard to trust, however, I liked what I saw out of the Wolfpack last week against Utah State and I think Nevada will be able to do enough on offense to at worst cover with the points. Take Nevada to cover.
