The Brigham Young Cougars square off with the Stanford Cardinal with both teams looking to go 2-0.
Brigham Young rode a big first half to an 81-72 victory over a dangerous Weber State. The Cougars jumped out to a 44-33 lead after 20 minutes and held the Wildcats at bay the rest of the way. BYU defended the shot well with Weber hitting at less then 40% which made their 44.4% look good. Stanford avoided the upset bid from Bucknell 72-68 in the season opener for both teams. The boxscore indicated the Cardinal should have won by a bigger margin with 48% marksmanship while holding the Bison to 43%. Stanford held a 15-8 advantage at the charity stripe and enjoyed more explosive scoring from the starting five that saw four players reach double figures. Chasson Randle paced the attack with a game high 18 points followed closely by Dwight Powell with 17 points, 12 pulls and five helpers. Anthony Brown and Stefan Nastic combined for 25 points and eleven boards to round out the top contributors with the Cardinal sticking primarily with a six man rotation.
I think this is a fairly even match up in the early going but we don't know that for sure so I'll back the points and see what happens...
