The Arizona State Sun Devils and the Miami (OH) RedHawks face off on Tuesday in college basketball action.
The Arizona State Sun Devils are off to a 1-0 start after waltzing past Maryland Baltimore City in their season opener. ASU got out to a 17 point halftime lead and extended it from there in what was a mismatch. Jermaine Marshall had 19 points and four steals and Jahii Carson had 19 points and five assists. Jordan Bachynski dominated the boards grabbing 15 rebounds and scoring 12 points. Jonathan Gilling scored 10 points and had six rebounds and Shaquielle McKissic scored 11 points with six rebounds. The Sun Devils shot 47.4 percent from the floor, 39.1 percent from beyond the thee-point arc, and 95 percent from the free throw line. 12 ASU players got onto the floor with playing time in game one.

The Miami RedHawks drew nationally ranked Notre Dame for their season opener and while they lost by double digits they still easily covered the point spread. Miami trailed by seven at the break and while they lost by 12 in the end they did nothing that they should hold their head low about even outrebounding the Irish for the game. Reggie Johnson had 22 points as Miami’s top scorer. Will Felder had 13 points and seven rebounds and Geovanie McKnight had 13 points in the losing effort. Miami shot 43.8 percent or the game but they were just 6 of 22 or 27.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 73.7 percent from the free throw line. Miami has a tough schedule to start the season.
Arizona State is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, and 4-0 against the spread in their last four non-Pac-12 games. Miami is 4-0 against the spread in their last four non-MAC games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games.
Arizona State has the edge here but this is a lot of points to be giving to a team who has made a habit of covering the number as a dog.
