The Temple Owls take the floor with the Towson Tigers of the Colonial Thursday night.
The big concern for Temple heading in to 2013-14 was where would the offense come from but that has been a non worry through two games where the Owls have averaged 77.5 points. Unfortunately that wasn't enough against Kent State in an 81-77 defeat where the Golden Flashes rode hot three point shooting to over come mediocre 43% accuracy overall. Temple connected at over 46% but were 5-19 on bombs and were outscored 18-12 at the line. All five starters reached DD in scoring led by Will Cummings with 17 points and seven assists followed by Anthony Lee and Quenton DeCosey with 16 points each while Dalton Pepper and Mark Williamd tossed in 15 and eleven points.

If you put any stock in what the experts say then you know they believe Towson is the creme of the crop in the Colonial. I don't always have much faith in these guys but I do follow this conference and tend to agree with this assessment. The Tigers had no problem in knocking off Morgan State 95-75 to up their record to 2-0 behind blistering 57% sharp shooting. The Tigers didn't miss much of anything with a 9-14 mark on three balls and a stellar 30-39 performance at the charity stripe. That made the Bears 43% from the floor a non factor with the Tigers balanced attack and four DD scorers. Jerrelle Benimon poured in 21 points, hauled in 14 rebounds while dishing out six helpers followed by a 20 point effort from Rafriel Guthrie. Marcus Damas was next in line with 17 with Jerome Hairston adding another 12 points.
Temple is one of my favorite teams and I like the CAA so I like both teams. Temple has looked like they have taken a step back and Towson is definitely on the upswing. Giving the Owls points just seems wrong but make no mistake that the Tigers are very capable of easily covering...
