The Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow jackets face off on Friday in a SEC vs. ACC college basketball battle.
The Georgia Bulldogs opened their season with a win over Wofford making it look easy beating the Terriers. Georgia led by 19 points at the half and then cruised to a 20 point win as they cleared their bench. Nemaja Djurisic had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead UGA in their first game. Donte Williams had 11 points and nine rebounds, Kenny Gaines had 10 points and six rebounds, and Cameron Forte had nine points in just 16 minutes of action. Georgia shot 43.9 percent from the floor, just 18.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and they shot 69 percent from the free throw line. We didn’t learn a lot from Georgia in their first game but they lost a ton from last year in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are off to a 2-0 start to the season though they have played soft competition. GT opened the season with a win over Presbyterian and then proceeded to route Delaware State. Marcus Georges-Hunt is averaging 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists to lead Georgia Tech. Trae Golden has transferred from Tennessee and he is averaging 14 points, Robert Carter is averaging 12 points and seven rebounds, and Daniel Miller is averaging 10 points, six rebounds, and 2.5 blocks. Georgia Tech is averaging 78 points per game, they are shooting 51.8 percent from the floor, 24.1 percent from 3-point arc, and 77.5 percent from the free throw line.
Georgia is 6-1 against the spread following a game in which they covered the spread, 14-3 against the spread in their last 17 games, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games. Georgia Tech is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games, 2-6 against the spread against the SEC, and 6-20 against the spread following a win. The home team has covered the point spread in nine of the last 12 meetings of these two.
These teams are pretty even but I like the addition of Trae Golden for GT and I believe he is a difference maker as the best player on the floor in this game.
