The Cincinnati Bearcats face the Appalachian State Mountaineers in the final round of the Global Sports Shootout Saturday.

The winless Appalachian State Mountaineers face another uphill battle as they take to the road for a non-conference matchup with the undefeated Cincinnati Bearcats in the Global Sports Shootout..

App State finds themselves at 0-2 on the year after consecutive losses to NC State and Campbell.  In their most recent loss, the Mountaineers poor shooting was too much to overcome as they shot the ball 26% from deep and just over 40 from the floor.  They were led in scoring by Mike Neal’s 20 points but found it hard to establish half court sets as the team only had one player with more than 1 assist.  The Mountaineers 9 assists per game ranks 308th in the country and should be a huge concern moving forward, especially with the pesky Cinnci press-style defense looming on the road this weekend.

Cincinnati sits at 2-0 on the year after an easy win over NCCU and a solid second half charge that helped them prevail over NC State 68-57.  The Bearcats and Wolfpack were knotted up for about 27 minutes of action in this one before Cinnci pulled away. Sean Kilpatrick once again led the way with 21 points and Titus Rubles was strong down low - adding 14 and 7.  Justin Jackson tallied double figures as well and registered 4 blocks on the defensive end -- a few of which came during a stretch run about halfway through the second half.  With that solid win in the books, the Bearcats find themselves looking at a very favorable schedule over the next few weeks.

This game has all the makings of a snoozer by halftime.  The Cincinnati size, athleticism and team defense will be way too much for a point guard challenged team like App State to overcome.  Look for Kilpatrick to flirt with 30 points in this one as the Bearcats roll to an easy win and the cover at home.

Dave R.'s Pick: Cincinnati -19.5
