North Carolina and Belmont face off on the hardwood on Sunday.

The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Belmont Bruins face off on Sunday in the Dean Dome in college basketball action.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are off to a 2-0 start as they look to make is a special year in Chapel Hill. UNC opened the season with a 23-point win over Oakland and followed it up holding off Holy Cross by eight in a game they were favored by 21. Marcus Paige is leading North Carolina averaging 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4 assists per game. James Michael McAdoo is averaging 16 points and 6.5 rebounds, Brice Johnson is averaging 11 points and 5.0 rebounds, and J.P. Tokoto is averaging 9.5 points 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. North Carolina averages 73 points per game while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor, 34.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 68.4 percent from the free throw line.

The Belmont Bruins have become regulars in the NCAA Tournament and they are hoping it will be more of the same this season. Belmont is 2-1 thus far this year with wins over Indiana State and Lipscomb and a loss at Richmond. J.J. Mann leads Belmont averaging 16 points and 5.3 rebounds. Drew WIndler is averaging 15.3 points and 6.0 rebounds, Reece Chamberlain is averaging 13 points and nearly 5 assists, and Blake Jenkins is averaging 11 points and 6.3 rebounds. Belmont is averaging 81.3 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the floor, 27.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 70.9 percent from the free throw line.

North Carolina is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, 0-5 against the spread following a win, and 6-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. Belmont is 1-4 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games, and 0-6 against the spread in their last six games.

Belmont is already battle tested this season and I expect it to help them out and they cover getting this big number.
