The Washington State Cougars hope their defense comes to life against the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
Washington State isn't given much of a thought in the PAC 12 but they have gotten the season off to a good start at 2-0 after hammering Lamar 84-64. Defense was a concern coming in to 2013-14 but that was not an issue against the over matched Cardinals. The Cougars jumped to a 43-27 lead at the break before holding serve until the final buzzer. Both teams hit shots in the 47% range but WSU forced 15 turnovers and grabbed ten offensive rebounds which resulted in 16 more looks and the easy win. The points were flowing with DaVonte Lacy tossing in a game high 21 with Dexter Kernich-Drew following with 15 points and seven rebounds while Ike Iroegbu adding 13.

A different year but it looks like the same Gonzaga who will be the favorite in the WCC and finish in the top 20 with a trip to the NCAA's awaiting. he Bulldogs offense have come out of the gate clicking on all cylinders with an 82-67 victory over Oakland being their lowest out put in a 3-0 start. Defense was optional with Golden Grizzlies hitting shots at an impressive 49% including eleven bombs. That still wasn't enough with the Zags firing away at 55% with eleven threes of their own. Kevin Pangos paced the Bulldogs offense with 21 points with Sam Dower totaling 15 while Gary Bell Jr added 14 points and Przemek Karowski 12. Altogether the Zags went with an eight man rotation with each finding the scoring column.
I don't think Washington State sniffs an upset but these teams have played often and have played several close to the vest. This could easily be a titanic blowout but hopefully it doesn't get completely out of hand...
