The UMass Minutemen and the New Mexico Lobos face off in Charleston after each of them won their first round game in the Charleston Tip-Off.

The UMass Minutemen took a three-point lead over Nebraska into the half on Thursday and were able to extend it another three points getting the win. UMass had six players score double digits racking up 96 points in the win. Derrick Gordon scored 20 points with four rebounds and two steals to lead the Minutemen. Sampson Carter had 16 points and seven rebounds, Cady Lalanne had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Maxie Esho had 13 points and six rebounds. UMass shot 50 percent from the floor, 3 of 11 from beyond the 3-point arc, and 76.7 percent from the free throw line. UMass also outrebounded Nebraska 42-37 with a decided edge in defensive rebounding and that was the difference maker.

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The New Mexico Lobos needed two overtimes to get the win over UAB but in the end they did what they needed to do to get the win. At the end of regulation and at the end of the first overtime UNM was able to hit three-point shots within moments of time expiring to extend the game. Kendall Williams had 29 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds to lead the Lobos. Cameron Bairstow had 21 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, Alex Kirk had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks, and Cleveland Thomas had 10 points and seven rebounds. New Mexico scored 97 points and shot 34.1 percent from the floor  and they also lost the rebound battle but it was the clutch three’s that got them to this game.

These teams can score and the total reperesents that being set in the 160' but I see it going over and that is my free pick and is really just a lean. I have a strong play on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in the premium area as well as make it available on the APP.
