Michigan State Spartans vs. Virginia Tech Hokies Pick, Odds, Prediction 11/22/13Mitch's Free College Basketball Pick Against the Spread
Michigan State and Virginia Tech face off on Friday in Brooklyn.
The Michigan State Spartans and the Virginia Tech Hokies face off on Friday in Brooklyn in college basketball action.
The Michigan State Spartans are off to a 4-0 start are the number one ranked team in the nation. Michigan State got their signature win this season two games back against Kentucky and the Spartans have coasted to wins over Columbia and Portland since then. Adreian Payne is averaging 17.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game to lead the MSU. Gary Harris is averaging 16.5 wins and 4.8 rebounds, Keith Appling is averaging 15.2 points and 6.2 assists, and Branden Dawson is averaging 9.0 points and 9.5 rebounds. Michigan State is averaging 80 points and they are shooting 47.5 percent from the floor, 37.3 from beyond the three-point arc, and 76.9 percent from the free throw line while defensively they are allowing 62.5 points and their opponents shoot 38 percent. Michigan State still gets it done like they always do, with solid rebounding.
The Virginia Tech Hokies were upset in their first game against USC Upstate but since then they have bounced back three wins. VT now takes a big step up in competition and they have a chance to redeem themselves for that early loos and a win that would make a big impression on their post-season resume. Jarell Eddie is averaging 16.5 points and 5.8 rebounds to lead the Hokies. Ben Emelogu is averaging 15.8 points per games, Ada Smith is averaging 10.8 points, and Devin Wilson is averaging 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Virginia Tech is averaging 83,5 points per game shooting 46.4 percent from the floor, 44.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 68.3 percent from the free throw line while defensively they allow 74.8 points per game and their opponents shoot 37.2 percent.
Michigan State is 0-3-1 against the spread following a win, 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games, and 2-5 against the spread when their opponent scores 100 or more points in their previous game. Virginia Tech is 4-1-1 against the spread against the Big Ten, 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine neutral site games, and 1-6 against the spread following a win.
Michigan State is favored by 15 points in this one and it is simply too big of a number to be laying. While I like the Spartans to win it is a lean to Virginia Tech with the points.
