After pulling the upset over Georgetown in the tournament opener Northeastern ran in to a solid Charlotte squad who sent them away with an 86-77 defeat. The 49ers took a nine pont lead at the break and held the Huskies at bay in the second half behind 51% marksmanship and a 10-16 performance from beyond the arc. The Huskies countered with 44% marksmanship and managed eight more looks but were simply out shot. Florida State had their sights set on the Puerto Rico Tip-Off championship after taking a double digit lead versus Michigan but it was not to be as a late Wolverines rally forced overtime where they prevailed by an 82-80 count. The Seminoles burned the nets at 52.5% from the field including 6-12 on threes but Michigan over came 43% shooting with 13 forced turnovers and 13 offensive rebounds that added up to six more shots. The Wolverines sank a few more threes and a few more foul shots and escaped in the extra session. Ian Miller led the Seminoles offense with 19 points and five yanks with Okaro White on his heels with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Montay Brandon followed with 14 while Boris Bojanovsky tossed in ten points.
I don't know why Northeastern has suddenly played well and I don't know how this Florida State squad is not picked higher in the ACC. If we see the Seminoles perform as they have I'll back them on potential...
