The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Louisville Cardinals face off on Sunday in Connecticut in a gigantic college basketball matchup.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are off to a 3-1 start to the season and are nationally ranked and they get a chance to prove themselves as they take on the defending National Champion Louisville at a neutral site. UNC reached this game by knocking off Richmond on Saturday 82-72. Marcus Paige leads the Tar Heels averaging 20 points, three rebounds, and four assists per game. James Michael McAdoo is averaging 17 points and 7.5 rebounds, Brice Johnson is averaging 15 points and 7.8 rebounds, and J.P. Tokoto is averaging 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds. North Carolina is averaging 77 points per game as they are shooting 48.2 percent from the floor, 38.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 60.2 percent from the free throw line while defensively the Heels are allowing 67.5 points per game and their opponents are shooting 38.9 percent. Roy Williams knows championships aren’t won in November but a win over a team like Louisville can still impact NCAA Tournament seeding no matter when it happens.

The Louisville Cardinals are off to a 5-0 start to the season and none of their games have been close. UL has looked very much like the defending National Champions and while some of the names have changed, they have plenty of key players returning from last year’s team. Russ Smith is still the leading scorer for the Cardinals averaging 17 points and three rebounds with nearly four assists per game. Montrezi Harrell averages 14 points and 9.8 rebounds, Chris Jones is averaging 13.4 points an nearly four assists, and Wayne Blackshear is averaging 11.2 points. Luke Hancock is averaging is averaging 9.3 points and Chane Behanan are both getting rolling as well so this is a very deep team for Rick Pitino once again.
I am expecting a war in this one but Louisville is the far better team from top to bottom. 10 points is a lot in a game like this so I am going to take them in what is just a lean.
